TEAM FUNDRAISING

NO COMPULSORY FUNDRAISING OR FUNDRAISE FOR A CAUSE IMPORTANT TO YOU

TO FUNDRAISE OR NOT

IT’S COMPLETELY UP TO YOU

2020 has been a tough year. For many it has been the toughest.

Our program focuses on building a support network for participants as they develop bonds within their team, while strengthening mental well-being through exercise in nature. Fundraising is not our primary goal. And we certainly do not want it to be a restriction or burden for any of our teams. Even less would we want to create any stress.

Consequently, there will be no compulsory fundraising component to The Great Aussie Hike 2021. Instead, our focus will be on supporting the East Gippsland community who have gone through drought, bushfires and pandemic. In keeping with our motto of looking after our mates, we will encourage participants to support these local businesses as much as possible. Stay in their towns, buy food from their stores, fill your car with fresh produce to take home, bring family and friends to holiday while you complete the walk.

FOODBANK VICTORIA

For those who feel they do have the capacity to do more, an endurance walking event is a great opportunity to raise much needed funds. It is a pretty impressive challenge that you will conquer, with your friends and family often happy to acknowledge this by donating to your chosen cause. We would encourage you to consider supporting Foodbank Victoria – an organisation who provided on the ground support during the bushfires, ensuring food hampers were delivered to needy families. Demand for food relief across Victoria has increased at an alarming and unprecented rate. Your support will see people within your local community directly benefit, with every $1 providing two meals.

From everyday emergencies to the recent bushfires or current coronavirus pandemic, Foodbank Victoria has been feeding Victorians for 90 years.

Through our network of more than 470 charity partners across the State, we’re able to help feed more than 140,000 Victorians every month. And while supporting our charity partners is at the core of what we do, as the State’s dedicated emergency food relief organisation, we’re also here to assist Victorians through times of crisis.

We work with partners right across the food and grocery sector, from farmers and growers right through to retailers, to source, rescue and distribute essential food and grocery items to Victorians in need. Foodbank also works with the Victorian State Government and Department of Education and Training to deliver Australia’s largest School Breakfast Clubs program. Since its launch in 2016, the School Breakfast Club program has grown to feed almost 1,000 primary and secondary schools across the state. Our vision is healthy food for all. We believe that all Victorians should have regular access to healthy food.

Every dollar donated to Foodbank Victoria creates two meals to people in need.
