60km COURSE

Looking for an amazing challenge? 60km in under 18 hours is the ultimate challenge for your team. Departing from the township of Nowa Nowa as the sun rises, teams will pass through Colquhoun Regional Park before visiting the village of Bruthen, winding through the Tambo and Bumberrah regions and then transversing the rural farming lands to the finish line in Bairnsdale. Teams agree to maintain a speed between 4-7km/hr and to depart all Wellness Stops by the advised time. Running teams will only be accepted with permission from event organisers via team@greataussiehike.com.au

60km COURSE WOULD SUIT:

  • teams who are serious about developing their fitness levels.
  • those who have a 3-4 month window to time to train & prepare.

60KM TEAM OPTIONS

Our aim is to help every team cross the finish line, so there are a number of options that your team can choose from.

4 Walkers + 1 Support Crew

4 team members who train and plan to complete the entire 60km distance.

Remaining team member participates in some training to ensure s/he can complete a section in the case a walker becomes injured or fatigued.

They will also act as the support crew throughout the event.

3 x 60km Walkers + 2 x 30km Walkers

3 team members who train and plan to complete the entire 60km distance.

Remaining 2 team members train and plan to complete a 30km section each.

They will also act as support crew when not on course.

60km Relay Team (5 Walkers)

All 5 team members will complete 4/5 walking sections, with the team captain developing a roster system.

Those who are not walking will take on the role of support crew for that section.

An example of a team roster is below.
