WANT TO KNOW MORE?

If you have at least 4 team members, you can elect to use the share the distance option. The course is divided into sections between rest stops. You only need to have 3 members from your team on course per section. Other team members can choose to rest some sections and return to course for others.

Someone can even choose to do just one section and be the support crew for the team for the rest of the course. The whole aim is that all your mates can join the fun no matter their level of fitness.

We just need you to keep us informed as to who is on course and who is resting at all times for safety purposes.

The course follows the rail trails of the Ovens Country and its a gorgeous part of the world to explore!

The trail is sealed, which we choose on purpose as October can be a very wet time of year and we didn’t want to risk a flooded or heavy, muddy course.

The full course is nearly all downhill. The only ascent is the climb to Taylors Gap, but it’s only 115m elevation over a 5km stretch.

We specifically choose this course for the ‘mini’ Great Aussie Hike as an easier version of our regular challenges.

Read more about the course here

Part of the purpose of having a ‘mini’ Spring version of the Great Aussie Hike is to provide a catch up for all our teams who have formed our community over the last couple of years (and welcome any new teams to our village!)

We have therefore designed the course to finish in the function room of Club Savoy surrounded by lots of tables of our teams sharing dinner and a celebratory drink. It will be a great atmosphere for everyone as they cross the finish line!

A 2 course classic smorgasbord will be available for $32pp and tickets available when you register.

Family and friends are welcome to join the celebrations as well. Just purchase additional tickets.

  • Adults – $32
  • Teens 13-17yrs – $20
  • Kids 6-12yrs – $15
  • Kids 0-5yrs – FREE
  • Drinks at bar prices

Food will be served for a two hour period (time to be announced closer to the event). For earlier finishers, feel free to head back to your accommodation to shower and change and then return for our meal together.

We will be set up at the Beechworth Bakery to give our race bibs and do equipment checks prior to the 43km teams departure.

They are open from 6am, so it’s a great opportunity to grab some breakfast, a hot drink as well as some takeaway for the rest of the day (who could go past a chicken and salad roll and a sweet treat). Make sure that you fill in the order form by the end of Sept so that they can minimise wait times.

It’s also a great way to catch up with everyone before we head out for the day!

For safety reasons – three members means one team mate can get injured, one can stay and look after the injured person and third team member can go get help.

Only by application to event organisers prior to October 1, 2022.

As this is a ‘mini’ version with limited participant numbers, we need to balance event costs with keeping everyone safe. Our primary concerns are making sure traffic management and first aid are in place at the correct times. We therefore work with running teams to start later than our walkers so that this can be achieved.

Any teams completing the course at a speed faster than 6km/hr without permission from event organisers will be removed from the course.

We sure can! Just fill out our reserve a spot form and we’ll save your place for 7 days to let you get your team organised.

We’ve answered lots more of our most frequently asked questions here.

PEOPLE ARE AT THE CORE OF WHO WE ARE & WHAT WE DO
